The Company

Pacific West Energy LLC is an integrated energy production and marketing company.  The Company was formed in 2001 initially to market fuel ethanol, primarily in the Western United States, and to develop and construct, own, and operate energy production facilities in niche locations providing unique cost or revenue advantages.  The Company presently is developing a sustainable, renewable energy project on the island of Kaua'i in Hawai'i as the first phase of what the Company intends will become the first fully integrated renewable energy plant in the United States.  The Company is working to convert existing and former sugar cane lands and woody biomass lands on the island of Kaua'i to comprise part of an energy plantation.  The Company is working to integrate and expand existing plant and equipment to form the first phase of a multi-megawatt (MW) capacity biomass power plant (Phase 1).  In concurrent or subsequent phases, the Company intends to integrate biofuel (including ethanol) production (Phase 2) and othre renewable energy sources (Phase 3).  Phase 1 of the Kaua'i project entails development, construction, and operation of an integrated energy production facility at a former sugar mill site and obtaining and expanding the cultivation of grasses and and other woody biomass lands on Kaua'i to support the facility.  The Kaua'i electricity projects (Phases 1 and 3) are designed to produce electricity for export to the local utility, Kaua'i Island Utility Cooperative.  The Phase 2 Kaua'i ethanol plant is being designed to produce fuel ethanol for sale in the Hawai'i motor fuel and electricity generation markets.  The Company's Phase 3 includes possible development of an assortment of compatible renewable energy sources or projects, including solar, wind, hydro, cellulose-to-energy or -to-fuel, algae-to-energy or -to-fuel, and waste-to-energy projects, to integrate into the Company's base facilities.  These projects are being conducted by the Company both independently and in partnership with technology and other development partners.  The Company's strategy is to create the world's first "integrated renewable-energy plantation," producing firm renewable energy from a variety of sources for the Company's own use and for sale to third parties.

Energy Production and Product Development

Our objective is to be the leading producer of sustainable, renewable energy in Hawai'i and other niche markets we target.  We intend the the Kaua'i facility to provide a significant amount of firm sustainable, renewable energy for Kaua'i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) and additional renewable fuel for blending in diesel or stand-alone turbines for electricity production by the Company or KIUC or third-party use.  We also intend for the facility ultimately to provide 100% of Kaua'i’s ethanol requirements for motor fuel blending, eliminating the need for future imports of ethanol and the resulting drain on the Kaua'i economy.  We believe strongly in the growing demand for sustainable, renewable energy, including electricity, fuel ethanol, biodiesel, solar, wind, and other emerging technologies in the Hawaiian market.  We intend to produce both renewable electricity and renewable motor fuels.  We intend to target similar markets where we will enjoy distinct competitive advantages.

Ethanol Marketing
The Company and its principals have historically marketed fuel ethanol throughout the Western United States in collaboration ED&F Man Holdings Ltd. and its affiliates, a major world trader in soft commodities such as sugar, molasses, coffee, alcohol, and cocoa, and Morgan Stanley, a leading international investment bank and commodities trader.  Ethanol historically marketed by the Company has primarily been marketed for use as an octane enhancer, fuel extender, and oxygenate.  The preferred target markets for the Company are those that regularly provide the highest net return, though growing ethanol demand in the United States has opened additional and broader market opportunities. The Company and its commercial partners maintain close relationships with all major oil companies, including ChevronTexaco, Tesoro, and British Petroleum.
